One time when I had to go above and beyond in my work as a Senior Technical Recruiter at AWS was when I was tasked with sourcing and hiring Front End Engineers for the AWS Commerce Platform team in Arlington, VA. This was a challenging role to fill, as there was a high demand for skilled Front End Engineers in the market.
In order to meet the hiring needs of the team, I exceeded my sourcing goals by 5x, reaching over 5000 Front End Engineers in just 7 months. I utilized a variety of tools and techniques, including my LinkedIn network of over 60k candidates, Boolean searches, internal hiring tools, and the Applicant Tracking System. I also conducted over 200 technical phone screenings, working closely with the hiring managers to ensure that we were only bringing in the best-fit candidates for the onsite interview stage.
In addition to these efforts, I also built and maintained a pipeline of candidates for niche and hard-to-fill roles, using strategic and creative sourcing methods. This included utilizing job boards such as Monster, CareerBuilder, and Dice, as well as internal databases, X-Ray and Boolean search techniques, and LinkedIn Recruiter.
Overall, I was able to successfully hire 9 Front End Engineers for the team, thanks to my dedication and determination to go above and beyond in my work. I believe that this experience demonstrates my ability to effectively source and hire top talent, even in challenging market conditions.
